The Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation is proud to announce the launch of Jishu Hub, a cutting-edge innovation and entrepreneurship centre designed to empower and support the youth in Nigeria and across the African continent.
JISHU Hub is a dynamic space that aims to inspire and nurture the innovative spirit of young entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills and resources they need to create sustainable businesses and drive economic growth.
Speaking at the unveiling Founder/Chairman Board of Trustees, Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was represented by his wife, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo expressed his delight at the commissioning of the centre. He said, “Jishu Hub is evidence of our dedication to the empowerment of young people in Africa. By giving them the resources and assistance, they need, we hope to help them reach their full potential and bring about constructive change across the continent.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, Dr. Olalekan Makinde speaking during the event explained the idea behind setting up the JISHU hub, he said, “JISHU Hub was conceived as an initiative of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, aimed at fostering innovation and youth empowerment in the country.”
Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Ms. Yan Yuqing commended the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation for the initiative and reaffirmed the Chinese government’s commitment to support Nigeria and Africa in the area of industrialization, agricultural modernization and talent development. We believe it will greatly promote Nigeria’s economic and social development and push China-Nigeria cooperation in various fields to a new level.”
“The hub is open to all Nigerians irrespective of where they come from. The recruitment process is open and usually advertised online for transparency and to give equal opportunities to applicants for possible shortlisting. Training at the centre is totally free, with the centre supporting some students with stipends to ease their transportation. On behalf of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, I want to express our gratitude to the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Ms. Yan Yuqing, the management of Huawei and CCECC for believing in the project and supporting us all through, Dr Makinde remarked.
The centre boasts of modern coworking spaces, fully functional labs, and engaging learning environments. These spaces are created to promote teamwork, creativity, and idea-sharing among aspiring business owners.
