Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and from partisan politics.
This comes just one day after the PDP was defeated in the presidential election by the All Progressives Congress, or APC.
While appearing as a guest on ARISE TV, Fayose announced his resignation.
He also revealed that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, turned down an offer of a single term in office in order to gain the support of the G5 governors.
Atiku lost the G5 governorship elections to APC candidate Bola Tinubu, who won three states, and Labour Party candidate Obi, who won two.
Fayose announced his resignation, saying, “From today, I stay off PDP.”
