Mount Must Reject Chelsea New Contract – Hutton

Former Aston Villa full-back, Alan Hutton, has advised Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount to reject any new contract offer from Chelsea and join either Manchester City or Liverpool in the near future.

Mount, who has become one of Chelsea’s stand-out players this season, is presently one of the lowest-paid first-team players at Chelsea on a deal of around £70,000 a week until 2024.

However, in an interview with Football Insider, Hutton told the England international to consider joining Chelsea’s rival if he’s to improve on his game.

“He’s the main player for them, he’s got so much potential still and he’s going to get better,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“We don’t know how things are going to move forward when it comes to Chelsea. We don’t know when everything is going to be sorted. It might be six months, it might be longer. I don’t know when this takeover could happen.

“If it’s sooner rather than later then, I won’t say things go back to normal. But you know what it means. As a club, they go back to the normal way they run.”

He added, “Then, contract issues will, hopefully, be settled. So, we will have to wait and see the outcome of that. If he doesn’t get that opportunity to stay at Chelsea, yes, he’s just going to probably see out next season.

“He’s into his last year and then we are into a different ballpark, and he could be joining Liverpool or Man City.”

Mount’s Early Career

Mount began his senior club career with Chelsea, and joined Vitesse and Derby County on consecutive loans between 2017 and 2019. He established himself as an integral player for Chelsea in the following years and won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2021.

Mount won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with the England national under-19 team in 2017. He made his senior international debut in 2019, at age 20, and was part of the England team at UEFA Euro 2020.
