A group, 2023IgbopresidencyPush Delta State branch has said those who sponsor media attacks against the Senate Chief Whip and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu are wasting their time, calling on them to invest their energy in more ventures.
The group in a statement made available to ABN TV by its Secretary-General, Amb. Francis Ejovwokoghene B said such publication is a deliberate attempt by those who are envious of the Abia North Senator’s rising profile, warning them to desist from deceiving innocent members of the public.
While noting that the two-time governor of Abia State has paid his due in serving his country, the group said as an elected official, Sen. Kalu has shown the capacity to effectively represent his people at the centre.
The statement partly reads, “We’ve known and followed his trend in the political corridors and his pedigree, with the calculation that he, come 2023 should rise and speak for the southeast, with respect to the number one seat of a nation married in religion, tribe and culture. We strongly believe that for these reasons, stones are thrown to deform his personality.
“It’s not debatable that, if Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is to run again for the Senate come 2023 in Abia North senatorial district, having Hon. Nkiruka Onyejiocha, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, The Hon. Minister Uchechukwu Ogah, and the host of them tired in a broom, many may be eager to know, who could stand with the strength to hold a flag from any political party to challenge him. Proudly said, this assertion is binding with his performance that earned him recently the constituency development award at the Senate Press Corps 2021 award ceremony. On this logic, we assume not knowing where this virus of fake news on our leader are springing from.
“We are aware that in our push on the Senate Chief whip Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, as we vowed to own responsibility to “bear the cost of his primary ticket” for the presidency come 2023, this push must have earned Mr 9th Senate’s chief whip, more enemies.
“It‘s expected and we’re gallantly ready to defend what we believe in.
“It is pitiful to say Senator Orji Kalu have lost his dignity as an Igbo man because of his commitments to bring good dividends from the government to his people. Such, he is doing practically and presently as a senator representing Abia North senatorial district.
“It is commendable to see the Chief Whip, Senator Orji Kalu, in his first year as a senator, commissioned roads, in his over 19 roads construction and the renovations of schools, furnished with good study desks; He created an enabling learning environment for school children and teachers in his constituency. Encouraged local farmers by giving fertilizers and also empowering his people through his foundation (Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation) giving loans to businessmen and traders. His recent achieved, towers enough to say he feels the heartbeats of his people. Could it be bad intentions to sort relief and bring development to your people?
“Internationally, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is a known brand. He’s decently respected in the world with his influential nature stretched wide to the ends of nations of the earth.
“We wonder how these promiscuous writers and publishers of the fake news on our “2023 Project” (Orji Uzor Kalu For President 2023) tend to achieve with their abominable publications.
“We read how the writer painted to create hatred on the mind of Igbo’s about Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, citing that The chief whip showed less concerns on the arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kalu. They forgot the role he played when he went to the prison to see Mazi Nnamdi Kalu. Senator Orji Kalu relentlessly took a tour also to see his father, HRH Late. Eze Israel Kanu, (the Traditional Ruler of Afaraukwu Ibeku) of blessed memories in their Afaraukwu community, Umuahia in Abia state. All this and many more he did to show concerns and sort solutions. His impact was also felt in the past, when he was the governor of Abia State, during the Kaduna crises where he sued for peace. How did we forget so soon? Why should he be treated like he had added no value positively to the Igbo ethnicity nationally and internationally with footprints to look upon, numerous to mention? Sen. Orji Kalu is radical in what he believes is workable and never had he failed to put first the concerns of his people back in the Southeast region. He’s a leader worthy of emulation, as all around him is nothing but success.
“Suffix thus to say; If indigenes from the southeast are binding by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, using the Nigeria legal tender, hoping on the government to make life meaningful by providing jobs for you and your household, then, you need not throw stones on the other man looking for avenues to make life more meaningful for citizens through his engagements with the apparatus of government?
“We solely condemned in totality, any form of fake media attack on the personality, reputation and character assassination of the Most distinguish senator Orji Uzor Kalu. Our rally around him for 2023 is born with the vision to repositioning the economy of our nation Nigeria. Our consultations indicated his sort of experiences, governance mixed with business as he has succeeded tremendously with lots to show for his doggedness. Such quality is needed by the nation to grow our economy.
“We want to as a body, in the assemblage of Igbo Presidency 2023, warn peddlers of fake information to desist from such act of defamation on the personality of Sen. Orji Kalu or any other form of misinformation that may damage the future of our dear nation, Nigeria.
“We stand against any form of deceit to deprive the south from producing the next president in 2023 as against the agreements reached in the meeting held at the National University Commission (NUC) Conference Center Abuja in 1998, with an agenda to rotate the presidency North and South in the portrait of Federal Character.
“A meeting that saw all-region represented. This rotational presidency was observed by political parties in their choice of candidacy in previous elections. Should the 2023 general election be different to abandon the rotational presidency that strengthened Federal Character because there are no competent Nigerians from the Southeast to lead the nation into greatness?
“The south, most especially the southeast has lots to contribute in the turn around of Nigeria if the responsibility of the nation is vested on them. History and statistics have them on good records in a growing economy, irrespective of how little they are given. We must not overlook the southeast with the sentiment of greed but rather imbibe the ambiguity to carry all along in this trial times and find solutions to move the nation forward.”
