Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has charged elected officials in the local governments, especially chairmen and councillors to do away with confrontation and pride in the discharge of their duties but imbibe humility and dedication for the benefit of the people.

The Speaker stated this on Monday while addressing participants at a 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop at Royal Cruise Hotel, Okpuala Ngwa in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

Organised by the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Darlington Nwokocha, and Hon Ginger Onwusibe, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, for elected LGA officials in Isiala Ngwa North and South local governments, the Speaker admonished the local government officials to make best use of the opportunity presented by the workshop to render an effective service to the people with dedication and commitment.

He also tasked them on tranquility and peaceful atmosphere in their various domains while appealing to citizens to criticise government policies constructively and shun personal attacks that can overheat the polity.

The Speaker also applauded the organisers of the workshop for the quality of human and material resources deployed.

Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji described Hon Darlington Nwokocha and Hon Ginger Onwusibe as Legislators with the interest of the people at heart, saying their people-oriented projects even as lawmakers are exemplary and worthy of emulation.

He thanked the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu who was also present at the event for always standing by his friends, saying it is an attribute of good leadership.
