A motion seeking to stop multiple and indiscriminate use of government number plates in the State is currently before Abia State House of Assembly.

The motion is sponsored by Hon Kelechi Onuzuruike, Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency.

This is one of the Motions tabled before the Assembly upon resumption of plenary after a break embarked upon on Tuesday, 22nd March, 2021, the last sitting before Staff of Houses of Assembly under the umbrella of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, embarked on their nationwide strike.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji asked Members to study the content of the motion so they can give informed contributions about the motion on another Legislative Day.

At the Tuesday plenary, the Speaker, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji urged Hon Jerry Uzosike, the Chairman of House Committee on Public Accounts and Due Process to prepare to submit its report on a petition surrounding SME funds.

Findings of the committee is expected to be presented to the Assembly on another Legislative Day.

A Bill for a Law to establish the Abia State Account Allocation Committee (ABSAAC ), sponsored by the Majority Leader also passed the First Reading.

Other Bills presented before the Assembly on Tuesday include, Abia State Fund Management Bill 2021, A Bill for a Law to establish guidelines for the management of funds of the Abia State House of Assembly, sponsored by Hon Solomon Akpulonu, the Majority Leader and Member representing Obingwa East State Constituency and Abia State Account Allocation Committee Bill, 2021

The Abia State Safety Management and Building Control Agency was deferred to be considered on another Legislative Day.
