Ahead of Easter celebration this weekend, the Abia Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has deployed no fewer than 2,500 personnel across the state, even as it assures residents to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.

The Command also reiterated its readiness to continue to collaborate with sister security agencies in the State to provide adequate security of lives and properties before, during and after the Celebration.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Vincent Ogu gave the assurance on Wednesday in Umuahia while receiving the first batch of 2000 personnel who returned from Abuja after successfully completing a Training Course on Counter- Terrorism, Strategic Peace Building and Conflict Resolution organized by the Commandant General- Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni to enhance the capacity of Officers and Men of the Corps in security service delivery.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, DSC Ndukwe Agu Egwu and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, Commandant Vincent Ogu said, “The newly trained Personnel have been strategically deployed across the state with special attention to some soft targets like Churches, Schools, Event Centers, Motor Parks and some black spots. They will work closely with the Command’s Rapid Response Squard ( RRS) , Counter- Terrorism Unit (CTU) and other Tactical Teams to ensure a hitch- free Easter celebration in the State”.

Commandant Ogu also added, “Do not forget to make civility your watchword in your dealings with the civil populace even as you remain firm and ensure that tact and professionalism are not in anyway compromised in your line of duty” .

The Commandant therefore enjoined Christian faithful to see the Easter period as a time of sober reflection and fervent prayers for God’s intervention against the challenges facing the country.
