An APC stalwart in Abia, Chief Barr. Nnaemeka Otagburuagu has congratulated a former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike ihejirika on his recent membership registration with All Progressives Congress, APC in the state, describing it as a wise and popular decision.
The 2019 candidate of APC for Isialangwa South state constituency said at a time governance is rapidly dwindling in the state, there could not be a better time for men of honour to rise in unison to rescue the state than now.
In a congratulatory message on Sunday, Barr. Otagburuagu said Gen. Ihejirika whom he described as a man with heart of a lion is an asset to both the party and the state especially with his track record of administrative dexterity and ability to galvanise human resources to achieve results which his demonstrated as Army Chief.
“I welcome my brother and friend, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika to the APC fold and congratulate him for this singular decision. This shows he has the interest and development of our people at a prominent place in his heart.
“As a fighter with lion heart, his antecedents speak volume. Joining our great party is a wise and popular decision for which posterity will reckon unto him as one of those who rose up in defence of our great state when it matters most.
“This shows that our great party is on the pedestal of rewriting the history of our people for good. As an administrator and manager, I have no doubt he will deploy his years of experience in the public service to advance the interest of our people” he said.
ABN TV had reported that Gen. Azubuike, appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan as Chief of Army Staff joined APC amidst cheers.
He is expected to make his political intentions known in the future.
