Gov. Otti Orders Verification Of Sacked Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Staff For Salary Payment (Video)

Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has directed the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic to commence the verification process for staff members who were dismissed by the previous administration but still owed salary arrears.

Governor Otti made this announcement while addressing journalists during his monthly media chat, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” at Government House, Umuahia. He emphasized that the move is aimed at ensuring that affected workers receive their rightful entitlements.

“I have directed the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic to start the process of verifying staff of the school who were sacked by the previous government while being owed salary arrears, so that we can get them paid,” the Governor stated.

The directive signals the government’s commitment to addressing past injustices and ensuring that workers who were unfairly dismissed receive fair treatment. Many of the affected staff, who were reportedly laid off under unclear circumstances, have faced financial difficulties due to unpaid salaries.

By initiating this verification process, Governor Otti’s administration seeks to restore confidence in the state’s labor policies, promote fairness in the public sector, and uphold workers’ rights. The government has assured that once the verification is completed, payments will be made accordingly.

The affected staff have expressed optimism over the Governor’s intervention, hoping for a speedy resolution that will enable them to receive their outstanding wages and possibly regain employment.
