The Federal Government has officially begun the payment of ₦44,000 minimum wage arrears to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), fulfilling its promise following the recent upward review of corps members’ monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.

This arrears payment applies to ex-corps members who completed their service before the new allowance structure took effect earlier in the year.

Former corps members have taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to confirm receipt of the payments and express gratitude: @Kingpin_black1: “Thank you, NYSC. Thank you, President Tinubu. Nigeria will be great again.”

The payment has been widely welcomed as a positive step towards keeping government promises and rebuilding trust with Nigerian youth.
