Court Adjourns Norah Okafor’s Case Against EFCC To October 18 [PHOTOS, VIDEO]

A Vacation high court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State on Thursday adjourned till October 18 a case seeking enforcement of fundamental human rights brought before it by an Abia-based journalist, Norah Okafor against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, ABN TV reports.

Okafor had approached the court, seeking interpretation of the invasion of her home in the odd hours by the operatives of EFCC does not violate her fundamental rights.

Speaking with newsmen on Thursday when the case was mentioned for hearing, counsel to Okafor, Barr. Hagler Okorie said due protocols were not adhered to before the invasion of her client’s home.

He said no warrant of arrest was presented, in addition to the fact that she has not been previously invited by the anti-graft agency.

The EFCC had earlier been served with a notice which they are expected to respond within seven days.

Okafor is among other things seeking the payment of N20m as compensation for damages she incurred following the invasion.

She is also demanding a public apology from the EFCC.
